Welcome to my blog! This is where I share my adventures camping across Michigan. Joined by my loyal companion, Moose, I travel the state in my van discovering its campgrounds, natural wonders, and scenic spots. Michigan offers an incredible variety of outdoor experiences, from rustic tent sites to RV campgrounds (with essential coin-operated showers). This blog serves as a personal journal for my travels, but it also doubles as a guide, offering tips, highlighting the best campsites, and uncovering some of Michigan’s hidden gems along the way.

Fletcher Creek Rustic Campground

Fletcher Creek Campground is one of those camping spots you stumble upon and immediately want to keep a secret. Imagine pitching your tent right above the water, with your own private dock stretching out into a peaceful, sandy-bottom "creek" (it feels like a lake)....

We reserved campsite #19, which turned out to be a great spot. Right on the water, it has a stony path leading directly to the lakeshore.

Seaton Creek Campground Host for the 2024 Summer Season

After years of camping at Seaton Creek, this summer I decided to search the internet and see if the campground host position was open. By a stroke of luck (or because it’s so remote), it was.

Morel Mushrooms & The Northern Lights in Arcadia MI

Since 2022, the morel mushrooms seasons have been dry for us. Were we too early, too late, or maybe the weather wasn’t right? – it’s always hard to pinpoint an exact reason. Morels move season to season as well, making them hard to track.

Seaton Creek Campground, “Little Mac”, and The Manistee River Trail

Rivers, creeks, stars, coyotes, bacon wrapped brats, PokémonGo and good fucking vibes. Last Seaton visit of ‘23 included hiking out to “Little Mac”, a large wooden suspension bridge that unites the Manistee River Trail with the North Country Trail.

Sulak & Gleason’s Landing

A visit to two new sites that looked promising, Sulak Campground and Gleason’s Landing! Both offered me and Moose access to the river, though by very different means.
